PROJECT DESCRIPTION

TWO-STOREYS RESIDENCE COMPLEX
LOCATION: PORTARIA, PILIO

The study regarded the construction of 14 two-storey houses with basements. The plot was located on the national highway Volos-Zagora and had a considerable slope from the highway and downwards.
Each house is different from the others in surface, volume and plan layout, aiming to give the impression of a small village and avoid repetition. Different orientation of each house and their best adjustment to the plot curves helped to achieve this aim.
An effort was made that the buildings would have visual escapes and unobstructed view.
Each house has independent access for cars or pedestrians. Therefore houses towards the highway have a side road that leads to the parking of each house.
The rest have a street in front of them with their own parking spaces. Between the two residence zones lies a pedestrian street.
The main aim was to incorporate buildings to the environment without distorting it and using elements of the traditional local architecture.
On the ground floors are situated entry, living-room, dining room, kitchen, WC. On the first floor are the bedrooms and bathroom. On the basement are the auxiliary spaces and some parking spaces.
Materials: local or traditional like stones on the fences, wooden frames and stoned tiling.
