PROJECT DESCRIPTION
SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE AT ALIMOS
ATTICA
In a very small, middle plot of a typical Athenian suburb, the study case was the construction of a house for a couple with two children, as well as an independent guest house on the ground floor (pilotis).
In order to overcome plot’s difficult relief, several solutions were adopted for the maximum exploitation of the permitted structuring and uncovered area. An effort was made to organize the residence in a virtual cuboid with dimensions 8.10 x 8.10 x 8.50 m.
The interior staircase divides spaces (bedroom from the entrance to the pilotis, kitchen from living room to the first floor, the master bedroom from children’s bedroom to the second floor) and is the main element of the design composition.
An internal “atrium” connects vertically the living room with the bedroom floor and offers a “breath” in the tight composition.
