PROJECT DESCRIPTION

SMALL SHOPPING MALL
KAMNAKI, MYKONOS

The aim was not to create a commercial center in the classical sense, but the integration of the building in the city’s web as continuity.
Thereby the whole project was split into different cubes upper and lower, larger and smaller, with recesses and protrusions, and different connections between them, stairs, bridges, etc.
The building retreated to the rear of the plot leaving a free yard- square in front, a staging and waiting area.
On the dominant angular volume, the 2nd level was placed at the rear of the building, creating a large terrace overlooking the city and harbor.
Materials: Rocker irregular plaster walls, irregular and squared slate floors, exposed wood ceilings, wooden window frames in color blue and local stone.
The shopping center is centrally located from the entrance of the town, above the old port on the main road leading from the city to the beaches, the airport and Ano Mera.
