PROJECT DESCRIPTION
MARRASI BEACH BAR-RESTAURANT
EL ALAMEIN, Egypt
“This is a study for a restaurant-bar in a large hotel complex located in the coastal resort area of El Alamein in Egypt. The space includes a closed kitchen-preparation area, a large outdoor bar, a covered lounge area with pergolas and light constructions, and a seating area extending onto the sand of the beach. The aim is for the proposal to harmonize with the location and the natural landscape, creating a sense that the construction is one with the environment. The palette that has been selected consists of natural materials and textures. In the restaurant area, the wooden tables, white sofas, iroko wooden flooring, the roof-canopy, bamboo lights, the wooden structure at the bar, and the olive tree in the interior lounge of the restaurant create a welcoming and familiar environment. The central canopy made of natural bamboo on wooden frames protects from natural light and creates a playfulness on the ceiling. Sculptural compositions complement the proposal outside the outline of the entire composition. The palm trees in continuation of the pillars define the outline of the space and emphasize the local element.”
