PROJECT DESCRIPTION
HOUSE II LIVADIA CHANION
CHANIA, CRETE
The plot is located on a rocky slope with a steep incline overlooking the sea.
The house is defined by three volumes. The central one, that includes the living rooms and kitchen, and two lower volumes right and left, with bedrooms and bathroom in each.
A large sheltered terrace on the south side is defined in front of the main volume, that is in retreat compared with the two sides. Fully protected from the north, delimits the living room area from the bedroom areas with sea view (south) and constitutes the core of the house with outdoor seating in the lower level. The large sliding glazings of the seating area unify the interior and exterior and create a large open and covered with pergola, living space.
An oblong water element is created parallel to the main rooms of the house and is the limit to the steep slope, the view and the sea. Vertical to the linearity, a metal suspended balcony leads as a platform towards the view.
The composition is complemented by a green roof, pergolas and metal and wood awnings.
Concrete brut and polished cement define the form of structured surfaces, in earthy colors to integrate the building into the environment. A restoration of the landscape as a continuation of the mountain where interventions will be made during the work, is planned.
